Horses returning Friday for Candy Cane Lane rides

Among the special holiday activities planned for this week is the annual Nuckolls County Historical Society’s annual Christmas program in the museum church.

There has a been a change in the starting time because of a another engagement conflict by one of the presenters. The program start has been delayed from 2 to 3 p.m. Arnold Miller and John Price will be the musicians and Lori Kitzing, pastor of churches in Superior and Ruskin, will be the featured speaker.

The museum will be open to visitors from 1 to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be available in Pioneer Hall.

Two Superior bucks drawings have now been held the Superior Chamber of Commerce and more are planned. Winners in the latest drawing include Amber Pedersen, Bella Henderson, Rochelle Sander and Brett Behrends.

Last week’s winners were Hatti Wilson, Ron Gruwell, Anderson Miller and Ethan Ross. Each received 50 Superior Bucks which may be spent like cash at participating merchants.


Because of the snow and cold, the horse drawn hayrack rides through Lincoln Park’s Candy Cane Lane were canceled Saturday night. They have been rescheduled for this Friday night. The rides will depart the scout cabin starting at 6 p.m. and return to the cabin located east of the elementary school where hot chili, hotdogs, hot chocolate, hot apple cider and s’mores will be served. The cabin will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Candy Cane Lane is open from 6 to 9 p.m. each evening through Dec. 31.

From 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, the Reed Family Christmas program will be presented at the Superior Auditorium. The doors open at 4 p.m. and concessions will be available. An admission fee will be charged.
