David J. Bruns, the son of Herbert W. and Bettie Jane (Nelson) Bruns, was born March 21, 1959, at Superior, Nebraska. He died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, at the Thayer County Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 28 days.

David received his formal education attending Superior Schools and graduating from the Superior High School. He was married to Pamela Keeling. This union was blessed with a son, Jon, in 1987. They made their home together in the Superior area where David worked as a semi-mechanic from his own shop. They later divorced. He then began his career working with Reinke Manufacturing at Deshler in the maintenance department. In 2020, he was united in marriage with his longtime partner, Trish Frye, and they made their home at Ruskin.

In his leisure time, David pursued a number of interests and activities, including gardening, canning, fishing and hunting. He was also a lifelong lover of animals and loved having his horses, cats and dogs.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Bettie and Herb Bruns.

Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife, Trish; his son, Jon Bruns; sisters, Connie Pike and husband, Larry; Sheryl Parrish and husband, Bob; and a brother, Steve Bruns. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin with the Rev. Lori Kitzing officiating with the Williams Funeral Home of Superior in charge of arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established by the family for later designation
