Love my crazy life

January 4, 2024

Welcome 2024. Christmas at the Bruce house went well. Christmas Day George and I opened our gifts before going to Mom’s house. The gift George worked so diligently on was a keepsake box. He used a wood burner to engrave the inside bottom with the army and marine corps logos and says, “To the one who gives her all so that they can give their all.” I have to admit I cried a little when I opened it. I have already gathered up the boys letters from boot camp and placed them inside. Those are probably my greatest treasures, that is besides the boys themselves.

George wanted a white Christmas and he got it. That meant we had to scoop the walks at Mom’s house before her company showed up for dinner. Because of the weather, none of her out of town guests were able to make it. Needless to say, we had plenty to eat. She really outdid herself and the food was great. I ate a little of everything, even what I shouldn’t. I’m just finally getting over the repercussions from that but I have to say it was almost worth it. LOL! Next time I may limit myself a little more.

Robert, Julia, Jack and Nickolas were all home this past weekend. We opened gifts Friday evening and the boys had a lot of fun with the bad Santa gift exchange. On Saturday the boys left Julia and me to our own devices to work on the Mini. They replaced both the fuel pumps this time. Sadly its issues are still unresolved. George is thinking maybe a new water pump now. I’m just going to drive the dumb thing and see what happens.

I’m excited because we are going to start working on the Money Pit again soon. The upstairs hall and bath still look the same as the day we got the house, and that’s going to change over the next few months. We have some crazy ideas for the downstairs bathroom and basement stairs as well. I’m just praying it can all be done without a whole lot of expense, or the house falling down. LOL!

Cheers to the new year. I hope it brings with it many blessings for you and yours, X’s & O”s.
