January 4, 2024

The Jewell County Commissioners met Dec. 18. Commissioners Brent Beck, Keith Roe and Ed Duskie were present. Carla Waugh, county clerk, was present for the meeting.

Anthony Wyatt stopped to inquire about buying gravel to put on T Road and 160 Road.

Brent Beck moved, and Keith Roe seconded to go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel beginning with P.J. Garst and Carla Waugh present. Regular session resumed with no action taken.

Greg and Gayla Flavin, Ivan Frost, Pam Hajny, Dave Hastings, Alan Davis, Todd Davis, Ron Whelchel, Ernest Childers, Natalie and Devyn Frost and Brett Walker expressed their concerns of the road conditions in their area and wanted to know when the road would be getting new rock. They also want gravel added to the road after the rock project is complete. Brent Beck said the plan is to start rocking all of 50 Road as soon as the current rock project is complete and with favorable weather conditions. Joel Elkins, general superintendent, was present for the discussion.

Commissioners approved signing the employment rules and regulations for all departments for 2024.

Commissioners appointed Kevin L. Peroutek to represent Jewell County on the North Central Kansas Regional Homeland Security Council for the 2024-2026 term.
