Giving Tree serves 100 or more families

Thanks to all who helped or donated to the Nuckolls County Giving Tree

The Nuckolls County Human Interagency Services team would like to recognize everyone who made this year’s Giving Tree a success. Businesses that displayed tags and collected the returned gifts were: Superior Pharmacy, Dollar General, Brodstone Healthcare, Nelson Post Office, and Farmers & Merchants Bank in Lawrence.

Bob Trapp and staff at Ace Hardware and Ideal Market collected items for Toys for Tots-Secret Santa. The staff at Brodstone helped in wrapping gifts, filling bags with food, organizing gifts and with the distribution of food and gifts. Fr. Boehme and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church allowed time and space to organize the event.

Sylvia Crilly organized, collected and distributed donations for Coats for Kids program and Deb Ostdiek helped purchase coats and gifts.

This year the Giving Tree filled 322 tags for 218 individuals in 71 families with an additional 24 families receiving just food across Nuckolls County. Coats for Kids helped 45 kids in Nuckolls County with new coats this winter.

The “Giving Tree” recipients express much gratitude, appreciation, and thanks for helping to make their Christmas season a joyous time with gifts and food they otherwise would not have been able to provide for their families.

Financial donations for the Giving Tree are accepted all year. Contact Peggy Meyer for more information.
