Monday morning, large flakes of heavy wet snow fell

Monday morning, large flakes of heavy wet snow fell throughout the area for several hours. With moderate temperatures and only a slight breeze, it seems much of the snow melted, but it came so heavy and fast it was difficult to be sure. This scene features a lone walker headed to the Superior Post Office.

For Christmas, in the rural country side south of Ruskin, Arlo and Petersen decorated this 1948 John Deere tractor with a wreath. The tractor was once owned and operated by a great uncle, Albert Carpenter, a rancher in the Nebraska Sand Hills. Monday's heavy, wet snow added another eloquent dimension. A weather observer in the Superior area reported eight inches of snow which produced .85 inch of moisture - a much needed gift to the drought stricken area.
