Sunday morning did not work out as planned. My farmer husband had gone another direction than I was wanting to go. I prepared to attend church up north. Since church had been called off last Sunday because of the weather, I was looking forward to attending but when I went out to start our car in the freezing weather, it refused to start! So no church attendance for me. I was a little down considering the weather and not able to have fellowship time and worship with friends. By late afternoon, my spirits seemed to pick up as it was time to watch the televised Chiefs vs. Buffalo football game.

Yes, I’ll admit it, I am a “die hard” Chief’s football fan. Being a midwest gal, Chiefs have been my only professional favorite team for years. In fact, I watched them play in their first Super Bowl game. I’ll also admit I think a lot of their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and also another main player, Travis Kelce. The team has been successful in winning games and advancing to the top, even winning the Super Bowl. But this year they seem to be having some struggles. Some of the fans blame Kelce’s romance with singing super star, Taylor Swift, and would object to her attendance at most of the Chief games. Other fans blamed Mahomes, Kelce and their famous coach, Andy Reid, for being in too many television commercials...while others said it was because Hill, one of their main ball carriers, went to play on another team, or maybe the Chief’s had been at the top too long and now it is time for some changes. I don’t seem to care about all of those fan’s ideas, I am sticking with the Chiefs, win or lose.

A week ago the Chiefs fought back and won their play off game. Then Sunday, they out did themselves and won again against the tough Buffalos. Yes, I saw where Kelce made an important touch down and then made a heart with his hands to send up to Swift who was in the comfort of a box seat along with Kelce’s family members, and yes, I saw Kelce’s brother, Jason, another professional football player, shirtless and cheering when his brother made a touchdown. All part of the excitement of the game.

So the Chiefs won against predictions that said they wouldn’t win. The game was a “nail biter” for the Chief fans. As the camera turned to show the result emotions of the Buffalo fans, several were in tears and in disbelief of the loss. The Chief players celebrated their win. They are in the AFC Championship for the sixth time. They are also last year’s Super Bowl winner.

Anyway, the Chiefs are off to practice for Sunday’s afternoon game against the Ravens. The winner of that game will head to play in the Super Bowl No. 58. Go Chiefs!
