Elaine K. Thayer, the daughter of Willis and Neva (Ross)Thornberry, was born on Jan. 3, 1946, in Nelson, Nebraska. She died on Jan. 20, 2024, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital at Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, and 17 days.

Growing up, Elaine attended school in Nelson graduating from Nelson High School. After graduating, Elaine attended Aliene School of Hairdressing, and became owner and operator of her own business in Nelson which she had for several years.
