Mary Lou Brockman, 83, Deweese, Nebraska, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at Providence Place, Hastings, Nebraska. Rosary was at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19. Mass was at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Deweese, with Father Jamie Hottovy officiating. Burial was in Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Deweese. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at the Church. Memorials may be directed to the Our Lady of Assumption Altar Society. The service was live-streamed on Merten-Butler Mortuary's website. Mary Lou was born on April 17, 1940 to William and Rose (Pavelka) Pohlmeier in Nuckolls County. She graduated from Lawrence High School and then went to the Lincoln School of Commerce for two years. Mary Lou married Virgil Brockman on Aug. 3, 1960, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska. She had worked at J.C. Penney in Lincoln and for many years at the grocery store in Fairfield. Mary Lou was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was on the church council when they built the new church. She was a 4-H leader for more than 20 years. Mary Lou was a devoted wife, loving mother and good gardener.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Virgil, Deweese; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve (Cheryl) Brockman, Deweese, Greg (Tracy) Brockman, Fairfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl (Scott) Webert, Lincoln, Nebraska, Kathy (Darren) Lunzmann, Bennington, Nebraska; one brother and sister-in-law, Gene (Jayne) Pohlmeier, Hastings; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn (Jerry) Menke, Kearney, Lorraine (Clint) Buller, Utica; nine grandchildren: Jeff (Natalie) Webert, Kayla (Kris) Ryan, Justin Webert, Jared (Megan) Brockman, Jason Brockman, Abby Lunzmann, Ally Lunzmann, Adalyn Brockman and Reid Brockman; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Billy Joe Pohlmeier.
