We have been unable to obtain more details but the North Central Kansas Health Collaborative reported the City of Formoso has received a $20,000 grant through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas Pathways to a Healthy Kansas program for improvements to the community park.

The Pathways to a Healthy Kansas initiative is the largest community grant imitative funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas. It provides resources for communities to remove barriers to healthy living. It was started in 2016 with eight communities and has been expanding since.

The program is designed to encourage increased physical activity, healthy eating and the avoidance of commercial tobacco use.

The program in 2023 provided $30,000 to the Jewell County Strong wellness center to help with construction costs and $90,000 to the South Mill Street Pedestrian Railroad Crossing Project at Beloit.
