The Crest Theater was founded in 1953. At that time, there was one auditorium that held up to 750 people. The box office was located on the east side of the building where patrons bought their tickets through a window outside of the building. Rick Disney, who was a projectionist in the 1970s, informs that in the 1970s there were two film projectors used to alternate reels for every screening.

The Crest Theater installed a high tech system in cinema-one that has a total of 12 speakers providing a premium auditory experience. However, an issue arose as soon as the sound system was installed - a loud popping noise can be heard in every speaker. Rick Disney believes it to be a faulty media server in the projector itself. To procure a new media server, the price is around $8,000. To aid in the solving of this problem, there was a potato bar Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Since those days, several changes have been implemented. The projectors are now digital and with the ability for the projection room to hold two separate projectors, the one auditorium was split into two. One of the latest upgrades was a new Dolby 7.1 surround sound system for Cinema One. This high tech system has a total of 12 speakers providing a premium auditory experience. Currently, all showings are in Cinema Two. Usually only one film is shown from September to May so right now the theater is making do.
