The Superior High School girls basketball team gave it all they had against C-1 powerhouse Milford at Superior in their opening round game of the Southern Nebraska Conference last Tuesday at Superior. In the end, the Wildcats came up two points short, 44-42. They picked up a win against Fairbury Thursday, 34-25, in a game that was nowhere near as close as the final score indicates.

Milford held a 22-19 lead at the half. The Wildcats opened up a 33-29 lead going into the final quarter. Defensive lapses allowed Milford to score

5 final period points while Superior was limited to nine.

The Wildcats had no problem with Fairbury. They toyed with Jeffs for three quarters holding a 30-11 lead going into the fourth quarter. Superior put forth little effort in the final period while picking up the 34-35 win.

Halle Bargen led the Wildcat offense against Milford with 15 points. She acquired seven rebounds for the game. Sadie Cornell came through with 12 points and three rebounds. Reagan Meyer put up 11 points and nabbed seven rebounds. Faith Butler contributed four points and four rebounds.

Monday evening, the Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Smith Center Red Men, 42-28. The Cats played both a strong offensive and defensive game. It was parents night for the Wildcats and their last regularly scheduled home game this season.

This week is packed with basketball action. The Cats will take on Lawrence-Nelson Raiders Friday.
