Worm competes at state bowling

Lenden Worm, a Superior High School junior, qualified for Nebraska State Class B singles bowling competition. He is the first Superior student to qualify for state competition since the program started a few years ago.

He placed fifth in Class B-5 district competition with a score of 546. Of the five qualifying students, three were from York: Logan Handy was in first place with a score of 603. Schuyler Handy scored 559 and Parker Friedrichsen 553. The other qualifier was from Northwest: Owen Pieper with a score of 564.

Monday morning, Worm bowled for games Sun Valley Lanes and Games in Lincoln with 30 competitors. Schuyler Handy, from York, placed first with a total score of 827. His game average was 206.75.

Worm placed 28th with a score of 557 and an average game score of 139.25. However, in his first game he bowled 173. If he had bowled consistently he would have finished in the middle of the competition.
