Railroad projects received funds for system repair

A Kyle Railroad project in Cloud County is among 17 short line railroad projects in Kansas to receive grants through the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Rail Service Improvement Program. Gov. Laura Kelly said nearly $16.5 million will go toward the expansion and rehabilitation projects with the goal of improving the state’s agriculture supply chain.

The recipients will use the funds for expansion and capacity improvements, major track rehabilitation, and rail replacement.
