The Jewell County Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Rock Hills Junior-Senior High School. Yaremi Cruz was the champion speller and Catelyn Rothchild the runner-up. Cruz is eligible to participate in the Sunflower Spelling Bee scheduled for Saturday, March 23. Spelling Bee participants (from left) were Emma Ruthstrom, Kinley Greene, Val Jean Reiter, Isabelle Wilburn, Logan Elkins, Catelyn Rothchild, Yaremi Cruz, Harlee Harris, Aubree Dunn and Keiran Shulda.
