It took their wildcard points to secure a place in the Class C-2 district finals for the Superior High School girls basketball team after they lost their sub-district final match to Thayer Central. The Superior High School gymnasium was the host site for the sub-district C-2-2 games last Tuesday and Thursday.

Superior had no trouble handling Wilber-Clatonia, 48-23 last Tuesday to advance to the final game. The Wildcats faced off against the Thayer Central Titans for a trip to the district final. Despite staying within striking distance of Thayer Central, Superior came up short. Fortunately for Superior they stood number 10 in the wildcard point standings and stayed alive in their quest for a place at the state championship table.

Reagan Meyer led the Wildcat offense against Wilber-Clatonia with 16 points. She picked off five rebounds. Sadie Cornell produced 13 points and added three rebounds. Faith Butler tossed through eight points and nabbed six rebounds. Halle Bargen was good for seven points and seven rebounds. Lilly Edwards put up two points and and accounted for three rebounds.

Bargen contributed 10 points against Thayer Central as well as seven rebounds. Meyers deposited eight points and nipped off five rebounds. Cornell contributed six points and two rebounds. Butler added four points and three rebounds. Ariana Heusinkvelt scored three points and lifted two rebounds

Superior enters the C-2-6 district finals as the number 12 seed. They face off against the number five seed Cross County at Stromsburg Friday with tip off set for 6:30 p.m.
