Superior High School holds career fair

Lawrence-Nelson High School students attended the first career fair held at Superior High School on Monday. Cassidy Huston, Natalie Jacobitz and Madalyn Kennedy listen intently to what Mr. Mosley, a US Army station commander, has to say about a career in military service.

Superior High School held their first career fair in the gymnasium on Monday, Feb. 26, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. School administration proposes to make it an annual event.

Several high school students from Superior, Lawrence-Nelson and Red Cloud schools attended making their way around to the different businesses represented at the rows of tables.

Cora Schnakenberg, a tenth grader at Superior High School, attends the school's first career fair. Cora asks questions of Brodstone Healthcare's staff Susie Kutay, RN and Spencer Trapp, director of rehabilitation services. Cora currently works at the Starbucks at the hospital. She is considering a career in psychology.

Students appeared eager to learn from the representatives from local businesses. Some high schoolers were prepared with a list of questions to ask vendors.

The exposure to numerous job and career opportunities even within one company gave the youth plenty to contemplate over the next few years.

Businesses represented were: Horizon Bank, Peak Dental, Superior Chamber of Commerce, Home Federal Bank, Akers John Deere, Bryan Health, Duncan Aviation, Nutrien Solutions, United States Army, Merck Animal Health, Williams Funeral Home, United States Air Force, Zoltenko Farms, Inc., Becker & Bouray Auction Service,VanKirk Bros. Contracting, Meyer's Aerial Service, Warne Real Estate Home & Land, Wildcat Blockchain, City of Superior, South Central Electric, Reinke, Central National Bank, Nebraska State Patrol, Supertown, 42 Wealth, Brodstone Healthcare, Nick's Taxidermy, Glenwood, MetalQuest, CPI
