Spring seems to be "Fund Raising" season for many small town and Lawrence is no exception. The time is also well spent with neighbors sharing news and information with each other. The annual Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department Soup Dinner Sunday. Besides the delicious soup and dessert, the volunteers had numerous items for the public to bid on for its silent auction part of the day. Gun winners were: Zach Herz a Ruger 6.5 rifle; Donna Mazour a 12 ga. shotgun; Don Kohmetscher a youth lifetime hunting and fishing permit; Kylee Haba a rifle scope. Todd Himmelberg, fire chief, reported the fire department did not have figures to report for the event, however, he noted the attendance seemed normal to other years and the money raised was exceptional this year.
