The annual Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department Soup Dinner was Sunday

 

A small part of the crowd attending the annual Soup Dinner in Lawrence, Sunday. The volunteer fire department uses funds raised to purchase supplies and equipment needed for their work. The table is one of seven or eight just like it that were full of grateful residents of the fire district and used the occasion to show their support of the volunteers.

Spring seems to be "Fund Raising" season for many small town and Lawrence is no exception. The time is also well spent with neighbors sharing news and information with each other. Besides the delicious soup and dessert, the volunteers had numerous items for the public to bid on for its silent auction part of the day.
