Wayne Adams

 

Wayne Alan Adams, the son of Dale and Clarabel (Ebsen) Adams, was born on Oct. 17, 1939, in Superior, Nebraska. He died on March 3, 2024, at Thayer County Health Services at Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, 15 days.

Wayne attended Portland Heights District No. 33 through the 8th grade and then attended Superior High School graduating in 1957. He was a member of Reformed Presbyterian Church, being baptized into the church. On Feb. 14, 1960, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Lyngstad in Hastings, Nebraska. To this union three sons were born.

Wayne was engaged in farming and raising cattle. He was the treasurer of the Eagles Club, president of Portland Heights School 1970 until it disbanded in 1973. Eagles trustee from 1974 to mid-1976.

He liked to go to antique and tractor shows and pulls. He also would attend Old Trusty Days, He loved his family and grandchildren, and enjoyed time with them. He was a leader in AA for many years and did custom bailing for several years.

His spare time was spent buying, repairing and reselling lawn tractors. He was in seed business for more than 20 years with Pioneer and NC+ seeds. He recently lived at Parkview Haven Nursing Home because of his health.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Clarabel; his wife, Betty, on May 16, 2014; great grandson, Conner Morgan; nephew, Jarod Adams, and sister-in-law, Kay Adams.

Survivors include his sons Michael (Debra) Adams of Superior, David Adams of Hoxie, Kansas, and Lonnie Adams of Wakeeney, Kansas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Max Adams of Omaha, Nebraska; other relatives and a host of friends.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 9, from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior with David Johnson officiating.

Music will be "How Great Thou Art," "So God Made a Farmer," "Footprints in the Sand" and "Grandpa Told Me So."

Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be John Combs, Vaughn Bargen, Steve Bruns, Zach Bruns, John Mertens and Lonnie Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alcoholics Anonymous, Superior EMT's and Volunteer Fire Department.
