RHHS track

The Rock Hills High School boys and girls track and field teams competed at the St. John's Invitational at Beloit last Tuesday.

The teams continue to impress as two school records were broken at this meet.

Grace Ayers secured third place in the long jump. Savannah Coil was in eighth place in the triple jump. Carsyn Vizner was fifth, Faith Reinert was in eighth place and Joyce Cady in 13th place in the javelin throw. Halle Mizner set a new school record in the high jump and took second place. Reinert was in sixth place and Cady in 11th in the shot put. Cady took sixth place and reinert was in 12th place in the discus throw.

Bethany Simmelink earned second place points in the 100 meter dash with Mizner taking fourth place and Ayers finishing in 14th place. B. Simmelink claimed first place in the 200 meter dash with Chloe Rothchild taking fourth place. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Mizner, Coil, B. Simmelink and Ayers placed third. The 4 x 800 meter relay team of B. Simmelink, Mizner, Alivia Lindberg and Hannah Simmelink set a new school record with their fourth place finish. Rothchild finished in eighth place in the 400 meter dash. Lindberg took sixth place, H. Simmelink followed in seventh place and coil was in ninth place in the 800 meter run. Lindberg placed ninth and Peyton Zadina was in 14th place in the 1600 meter run.

Cam Ward earned fifth place in the boys high jump. Mason McMains held sixth place, Eli Whelchel was in 12th place and Aaron Underwood was in 14th place in the shot put. McMains sat in seventh place, Underwood was in 15th place and Kaden Wurm took 19th place in the discus throw. Nate Meyers took the first place points for the long jump. Whelchel was in sixth place and Isaiah Ridgeway was in ninth place in the javelin.

The boys 4 x 800 meter relay team of Trystyn Reynolds, Cooper McDill, Justin Luong and Kobi Bowers earned the second place points. Ward was in 13th place and Wurm was in 26th place in the 100 meter dash. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Ridgeway, Ward, McDill and Meyers claimed first palce. Luong secured a third place finish with Bowers finishing in eighth place in the 800 meter run. Reynolds was fifth and Luong finished in eighth place in the 1600 meter run.

The team travels to Deshler today (Thursday) for the Del Wicks Invitational. This event features a throwers relay but no javelin throw.
