An agreement has been reached to transfer ownership of Heritage of Red Cloud from Vetter Senior Living to the Webster County Community Hospital Foundation.

The transfer comes with the support of the Webster County Community Hospital Board and a commitment from the Red Cloud Community Fund.

On Feb. 21, Vetter Senior Living announced plans to close the Heritage of Red Cloud senior living center.

Vetter operated the Red Cloud facility for 40 years,

More than 200 people attended in person a public meeting called to discuss the future of the nursing home and another hundred people attended on-line.

LaMont Cook, the Webster County Hospital’s administrator, said the attendance demonstrated the com-munity’s support for the facility.

Prior to reaching the agreement the plan was to close the nursing home on April 19.
