The Jewell County Commissioners met Monday, March 11. Commissioners Keith Roe, Ed Duskie and Brent Beck were present. Carla Waugh, county clerk, was present for the meeting.
Shannon Meier, ambulance director, provided the monthly activity and billing report for February 2024. He reported the ambulance broke down on the return trip from a transfer. They were able to get it repaired in Fairbury. Shannon said he started to work on the Medicare revalidation for billing.
The commissioners went into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel with Carla Waugh present. Regular session resumed with no action taken.
Commissioners approved to give the county clerk and county treasurer authorization to sign Exhibit C of the Business Associate Agreement with Freedom Claims Management LLC which allows them to approve claims registers for payment.
Commissioners approved Resolution 24-03 designating the Road and Bridge’s 2024 summer hours to begin March 17, through Oct. 26, 2024.
The commissioners continued to discuss the road in Section 16 of Whitemound Township.
James Vaughan IV, solid waste director, said he contacted Cram-a-Lot about the baler repairs.
The addendum to Waste Services Contract with N. R. Hamm Quarry LLC was approved.
The commissioners and Joel Elkins discussed repairing the bridge in Section 12 in Vicksburg Township.
Joel Elkins, general superintendent, provided quotes on mower tractors. The commissioners and Elkins also reviewed quotes for used a 2013, 2020 and 2022 tractor. They approved the purchase of a 2024 John Deere 6155M Tractor from Carrico Implement for the total purchase price of $147,704.32.
