Overwhelming support was shown on a busy Sunday afternoon when nearly 400 people attended the open house and benefit lunch at Superior's Simic roller skating rink. It was but one several special events planned for Palm Sunday.

The recreation center's newly formed board has an ambitious list of goals including new heating and air conditioning systems, insulation, plumbing repairs, resurfacing of the skating surface, purchase of a mat to cover the skating surface so other events may be held in the spacious building, a new sound system, roof coating, gutter and door replacement.

Donations may be mailed to the Simic Recreation Center at P.O. Box 97, Superior, Nebraska 68978 or left at Horizon Bank.

Accounts have been opened at Superior Ace Hardware and Kenny's Lumber and Farm Supply where donors may be left to help pay for refurbishing supplies.

A volunteer list of people willing to donate their skills is being compiled. If you are good with various tasks such as hanging insulation, like to paint or want to help with basic construction, the directors would like to add your name to the volunteer list. The directors would like to have a list of volunteers they can call when help is needed.
