Victoria Clairmont

March 28, 2024

Victoria Anne (McCormick) Clairmont, the daughter of Norman and LaVieve (Bethscheider) McCormick, was born on June 30, 1948, in Oakland, California. She died Sunday, March 17, 2024, in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 75, she was surrounded by the love of her family.

Vici had the opportunity to live in many different states, California, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Missouri and Arkansas. Her favorite was the beautiful Ozarks. From the first time she traveled to Branson, Missouri, she fell in love with that part of the country. She lived there for several years and enjoyed a few visits back to Branson after returning to Nebraska to be closer to her family.

For most of Vici's life, she was a homemaker. Later she cleaned elderly people's homes and worked in a restaurant in Arkansas and as a dietician aide at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson and Superior for several years. She kept a neat and tidy house. If she was not cleaning, then you would see her in her recliner with a glass of water or ice- tea beside her and a note pad to jot down a thought or add to the grocery list so she would not forget. While sitting, she would watch her favorite shows. All though she enjoyed her televisiton programs, she never allowed her hands to be idle while watching. She would crochet beautiful doilies, table cloths and even bedspreads out of thread she would purchase from the local Ben Franklin store in Hebron or later when Wal-Mart became an option. She became a master at crocheting that her late dister-in-law, Marlys Carter, suggested for her to send some to Colorado for her to put in a store to sell, and that she did.

Her family enjoyed her cooking, all except some family members, when it came to liver and onions. She always said, "you have to try it once" and for some, that was all it took. Besides making delicious meals and crocheting beautiful items, she enjoyed listening to music. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan and attended two of his concerts, which one was his second to his last concert. She enjoyed camping, waterskiing, her many pets through the years, reading, traveling with family, playing games on her computer, gardening, flowers and watching and feeding birds, especially hummingbirds.

Though Vici grew up with religion, she found there was still something missing. That was a personal relationship with the Lord. She accepted the Lord as her Lord and Savior and served Him the rest of the days of her life with all her heart. Any time she was to ask to pray, she would write it down on a little colored recipe card with the date and was faithful to pray and thank the Lord, because she knew He was faithful. When moving to Superior, she became a member of Living Faith Fellowship Church. She loved the Lord first but her family was her second love. She loved and cherished them with every inch of her being.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Philip Merriman; and grandson, Jace Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Laurie Nabity and Todd Nelson of Hastings, Melissa (Keith) Wilt of Superior, and Toni (Andrew) Bargen of Burr Oak; sister, Philis McMains of Nelson; brother, Richard Merriman of Yerington, Nevada; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and her best friend from high school, Vicky (Tim) Heinrichs of Marietta, Georgia; nieces, great-nieces and nephews and friends.

Her funeral was held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 22, at the Living Faith Fellowship Church in Superior, with the Rev. Jon Albrecht officiating.

A private family interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.

The Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron was in charge of assisting the family with the arrangements.
