L-N Golf team begins season at Superior

The green, green grass of spring is slowly growing high enough that the old, brown grass of last autumn is being covered. Traveling the country side a person can see players on golf courses around central Nebraska.

Yes Sir . . . the Golf Season is here for Nebraska High Schools.

As such, L-N High School got the season started last week with participation in the Superior Quad Golf Meet. The four teams included: Superior, L-N, Red Cloud and BDS.

The first thing to notice was that the event took place sooner than planned on the school calendar, and secondly, and more importantly, the L-N Raiders won the event. The team results were: (9 holes played)

L-N: 165

Red Cloud: 173

Superior: 184

BDS: 192

Five players golf in these events with the best four scores used for team totals. The varsity team for this meet included: Connor Janda, Bayln Bargen, Jacob Kathman, Clay Williams and Carsen Vaughn.

The top five individual scores were as follows: Colten Butler of Superior and Lucas Armstrong of Red Cloud tied for 1st with scores of 37; 3rd place went to Bayln Bargen of L-N with 39; 4th place was earned by Connor Janda with 40 and 5th earned by Jacob Kathman with 41. L-N was the only team to field a full junior varsity team at this meet. Their results showed the following: Nathan Pofahl, 41; Caden Culbertson 43; Hayden Mazour 43; Cody Brockman 51; Nolan Ostdiek 57.
