Last Wednesday, the Todd Becker Foundation presented a program at Superior High School, which included an energetic Christian band, testimony from Keith Becker’s transformation after a tragic accident and presentation of the gospel.

More than 700 people attended the rally. Most of the assemblage were students from grades 6th to 12th. Many were representative from areas in Nebraska and Kansas including: Superior, Nelson, Hebron, Red Cloud, Guide Rock, Blue Hill, Hardy, Deshler, Nora, Byron, Davenport, Webber and Burr Oak.

Staff members through the Todd Becker Foundation, opened the event by telling about Stint. It is a nine-month internship where recent high school graduates may attend to develop a firm foundation in their personal walk with God and learn about the Bible. The interns become participants in high school outreaches across 14 states. Stint also offers opportunities for training in music, sound and worship, if an intern so desires.

All the Noise band, lead spirited praise and worship songs. The crowd was enthusiastically engaged as many could be seen clapping, raising their hands and singing along in the excitement. The band formulated the name as a message to “cut through the noise of our culture with the truth of God’s Word,” as the constant state of urgency and distractions in life inhibit us from our pursuit of God.

For many the event was inspiring and life changing. There seemed to be a broad understanding from Keith Becker’s testimony that life on earth is temporary and can change in an instant from one decision. He pointed out how some have a misconception, as did he and his brother, that being baptized as a baby meant they could live however they want and they were safe for eternity. After tragedy struck, Keith examined his behaviors and questioned his belief system. He had the realization that he, in part, lead his brother astray from walking uprightly, which ultimately lead to Todd’s death at age 18. Heart-broken, Keith committed his life to Christ and began sharing the tragic story. Thousands have responded to his urgent wake-up call of real life, on earth and beyond.

By the end of the evening, 64 youth grasped the concept and surrendered to the tug on their hearts by heeding to the words of caution for their life’s direction and accepted the message of Christ’s love and forgiveness presented by Keith. Many others rededicated their lives to Christ. In anticipation of this outcome, Living Faith Fellowship Church and surrounding churches were prepared with 45 trained leaders, or counselors, to pray with each person responding to the call. They were equipped with forms to fill out and assist those in connecting or reconnecting with churches from their respective areas.

The day following the event, 25 of the counselors got together at Living Faith to pray again for each person represented by the forms filled out the night before. Those papers were then distributed to their respective churches for follow up. Pastors and leaders want young people to know they can stay connected to God and with a local community of believers. There are other events and programs which can aid in their spiritual growth.

Fellowship of Christian Association (FCA), a group in Superior, plans to host discipleship meetings throughout the summer for those who responded to the gospel message. Young people can get involved in their church youth groups, Sunday school, mid-week Bible studies and are encouraged to look for other upcoming events, concerts and special speakers to stay connected and keep moving forward on the journey God has for each of them. Additionally, for wholesome entertainment, Living Faith Fellowship Church will continue to obtain Christian films to be shown at the Crest Theatre.

It was a vision of a need, pastors, leaders and church members’ involvement, financial support from individuals and local businesses, permitted use of the Superior High School gymnasium, years of prayers and much more that made this event possible and effective for many individuals and their communities.
