The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in nelson Monday. All three commissioners were present.

The road department submitted a request from the Village of Lawrence t o maintain a section of road within the village. The cost of such agreement was more than the village wished to undertake.

The board approved the appointment of Robert Kotinek as county veterans service officer. Kady Schnitker was hired as an assistant. Outgoing VSO Wes Beguin is on administrative leave.

The board approved a special designated liquor license for Blackshirts Liquor, Deweese, for a country and western concert on June 8 to be held in northern Nuckolls County.

The board approved the removal of a large tree from the courthouse grounds. The tree is infected with a ground borne fungus and must be removed.

Brad Baker, county sheriff, reported his department is replacing outdated 911 equipment. A new dispatching console has been installed. A system to record all calls received is also being replaced in the next two weeks.

Applications are being accepted for the position of Clerk of the District Court. They may be obtained from the office of the county clerk.

The courthouse is closed Friday in observance of Arbor Day.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m., Monday, May 6.
