The National Day of Prayer will be observed throughout the United States on Thursday, May 2. It is an annual observance held each year on the first Thursday of May since it was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. On this day, Americans are asked to turn to God in prayer and meditation.
