Two new hires in Treasurer's office

The Jewell County Commissioners met May 13. Commissioners Keith Roe, Ed Duskie and Brent Beck were present as was Carla Waugh, county clerk.

Amanda Davis, register of deeds, discussed purchasing Fidlar Technologies’ imaging services which provides an online based program that includes backup and three weeks on-site training. The program would provide online subscriptions for records research with fraud alert protection.

James Vaughan, solid waste director, said P.J. Owen would transfer a load of solid waste this week.

Dawn Snyder, 12th Judicial District, presented the grant applications for the 12th Judicial District Community Corrections and 12th Judicial District Juvenile Services. The commissioners approved the FY25 Adult Community Corrections Plan grant application in the amount of $386,018.81, and the FY25 Juvenile Comprehensive Plan Grant Application in the amount of $292,469.94.

Dwight Frost discussed a plugged tube on 70 Road.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, discussed equipment repairs. Ed Duskie discussed bridge repairs in Section 32 of Erving Township. Commissioners approved the right of way agreement with Jerod Kinsey located south of Highway 36 and 230 Road.

Brenda Eakins, treasurer, said the treasurer’s office is now fully staffed with new hires Libby Duffy and Eli Goosic.
