I survived the weekend! It wasn’t a bad weekend, just hectic. Robert’s wedding reception was here at the house the evening of the Nelson Funday. I set it that day because I knew he would be here, because he has always taken leave for the Funday, but it also happens to be the busiest day for the pool, and one of the busiest for the paper. The free swim was over at 5 and the reception began at six. Several people were traveling from Kansas, and most of them were over two hours away. The free swim was a hit. We had more than 100 people sign in...

So we bought a new car. No, I’m not having a midlife crisis, it may look as though I am, but I promise I am not. It’s a Mini Cooper, and it’s red with a white top. It’s a cute little thing with an awful lot of get up and go for a four cylinder vehicle. A few weeks ago I started to worry, what if one of our high mileage vehicles were to give out on us. I really did not want to go down the car payment hole again, but having reliable transportation is a must. I had been looking at Volkswagen Beaeles, but nothing I found met my criteria. I swore I...

This weekend we had yet another trip to Omaha. It’s living up to its nickname, O-ma-gosh, because that’s exactly how I feel going there anymore. Oh my, goosh, do we have to! Jack’s graduation ceremony from Metropolitan Community College was Friday evening. I’m glad we were there early, because it took more than an hour to park, and then at least 20 minutes to walk from the parking lot and to find seats. Thankfully Jack’s mom. Michelle. had saved us a couple of seats. The only problem was I was seated next to a nice but chatty couple from Omaha....

I’m so excited! We are going to visit Robert at Fort Riley this weekend. I have no idea what we will do, but I told him not to plan anything too extravagant since the traveling and hotel room have more than broken my summer budget. LOL! He said something about going to the lake. That sounded nice and relaxing to me. It’s not supposed to be quite as hot, but there is a chance of thunderstorms. I hope that changes and we have clear skies. Jacob’s ship date was moved up, so he will leave for basic training in late August instead of Septe...

My sinuses have let me know spring is here! The past two mornings, I have awakened with a pounding head. I have year-round allergies, but they are worse when everything starts waking up. I should have purchased stock in Claritin and Sudafed when I was younger to get a return on my investments. Friday afternoon, I got a wild hair and decided it was time to get back to work on the Money Pit. I’d been struggling with the texture on the ceiling for weeks and had only gotten about a quarter of it done. I was dreading the work of finishing it. T...

By The past two weeks have been rough. It all started two weeks ago today when George woke feeling crummy. After a visit to the doc and some tests, it turned out he had COVID again. Thankfully, Jacob had been busy with Jacob things, and neither of us had been around him since the Friday before. So I told Jacob to stay away from the two of us. Jacob and I communicated by phone from across the hall when he was home in the evening, but for the most part, he would stay with friends until bedtime. I feel like I don’t see enough of that child r...

I’ve been burning the candle at both ends again, and this morning I felt it. This middle-aged stuff is for the birds! It feels as though I’ve been going at it non-stop for the past few weeks and crawled out of bed today on the wrong side, late, feeling like I got hit by a truck. My family keeps calling me a workaholic. I prefer to call it goal orientated. Stubborn comes to mind as well, focused even, possibly insane, but not a workaholic, not really. When I want something, like really bad, I have tunnel vision like no other. I can’t think...

Where has this year gone! The older I get, the faster the years seem to disappear. In just a few short months, I will be 40... Ok, let’s just say 40 and leave it at that! I’m still having trouble wrapping my head around my youngest being a senior this year. As far as crazy goes, this last week has been just that, Crazy! My days sometimes feel like two rolled into one. For example, I was telling my friend, Linda, what all we had been up to over the last couple of days when I realized I had talked to her the day before, and all I was telling her...
