Twelve fire departments from the surrounding communities responded to the page Sunday afternoon when a fire quickly spread across 4 1/2 miles of corn stalks and pasture southeast of Nelson. This photo was taken near road PQ at approximately 4:30 p.m. Volunteers were able to stop the blaze at road PQ just short of the Hamel home.
