The Wynot Blue Devils bedeviled the Lawrence-Nelson girls basketball team. The defending D-2 champions sent the Raiders home with a 48-49 win at Lincoln's North Star High School last Thursday. Wynot finished the tournament with another D-2 championship. The Raiders entered the tournament as the number fives seed while Wynot was seeded fourth.

The two teams played back and forth with the score over the first two quarters with Wynot holding a 21-18 lead at the half. Wynot began to hit their three-point shots over the next two quarters. This would prove to be the difference to the game's outcome. The Raiders were within striking distance, trailing 33-32, as the final quarter began. The Raiders briefly took the lead at the opening of the fourth quarter. A cold front moved in on their shooting. While they couldn't score, Wynot could and did take back the lead and hold on for the 48-39 win.

The core of the team, Allison Miller, Karigan Drudik, Taylor Harrington, Annie McCartney and Hallie Epley are seniors and have played together the past four seasons. This was their final game as Raiders. The team finished the season with a 25-2 record with one regular season loss to Superior, a C-2 state qualifier.

A. Miller dropped through 14 points to lead the Raiders offense. Emily Miller, Harrington and McCartney accounted for five points each. Emily Epley netted four points. Hallie Epley finished the game with two points.

The Raiders will face a rebuilding time next season. However they do have underclassmen who secured playing time and experience. There are also promising junior varsity players ready to step up to the next level.
