Primary election held here Tuesday

Tuesday was designated as primary election day in Nebraska and polls were open in Superior, Nelson, Ruskin and Lawrence. Voter turnout was light as many residents asked to have their ballots mailed to them.

After receiving the ballots, they had the option to either return to the county election office at Nelson by mail or in person. Few local races and the COVID-19 scare combined to cool interest in the election.

Those who went to the polls were asked to wear a mask when in the polling place. Sanitizer was available and the voting booths were santized after each use.

Polls were open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

While paper ballots were used, the ballots were counted by machine. It was anticipated the results would be available within two hours after the polls closed.

If all went as planned, the results are now available on a web site this newspaper shares with The Superior Express, the Jewell County Record and the Nuckolls County Locomotive-Gazette. Currently that website can be reached via the address of superiorne.com. The site is still being revised and adapted and the alternative addresses used for the former website are not currently working.
