3 juveniles charged as Jewell Co. burglary investigation continues

Last Nov. 14 the Jewell County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a burglary in Mankato where seven firearms were reported as stolen.

Since the initial report, there have been four additional burglaries, three being in Mankato and one in Burr Oak, with a total of 18 firearms stolen.

Along with the firearms there were also jewelry, knives, money and narcotic pain medications reported as stolen.

During the investigation, it was discovered a juvenile was attempting to sell firearms over Snapchat. The firearms matched the description of the firearms stolen in the recent burglaries.

Action Thursday by the Jewell County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Beloit Police Department, resulted in three juveniles being charged with five counts of felony burglary, 15 counts of felony theft and two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance. The investigation on this case is still ongoing. No firearms have been recovered at this time.
