Changes underway at Ideal Market

Patrons of Superior's Ideal Market will see some major improvements to the store's interior in the coming weeks. Those are not condominiums beings constructed at the front of the store. Though an unnamed party may have mentioned to one of their children they were moving in there when it was complete. The reaction was not a positive one.

The new construction will house the office space currently located in the south east corner of the building. The new facility will offer the operators and managers of the store a larger and more efficient work space. The courtesy booth will also be relocated to the new area.

Shannon and Jenny McCord realized they needed more office space to effectively manage their operation. The relocated office will allow them to update their computer and register systems as well.

The construction work is being carried out by Paul Savageau. The construction of the office is one phase of the project. The computers need to be wired. The couple looks to be utilizing the space in three weeks.

There are other changes on the way. New pinpads at the registers will speed up debit and credit card transactions. An updated register system is also being installed.

Behind the scene, a new freezer is being installed. This will allow pallets of product to be moved into the freezer. It will accommodate the product of two departments. The freezer is an energy efficient model. Shannon McCord notes that improvements to the store, such as LED lighting and new cold cases and freezers, as well as other steps have lowered their energy costs by half.

The final project is the installation of laminate flooring in the retail shopping area of the store. The installers will go aisle by aisle so as to minimize any inconvenience to shoppers.

The space where the current office is located will eventually be renovated. It will allow for the expansion of the deli area.

The McCord's want to offer their patrons the modern shopping experience with the personal small-town service for which they are known. To paraphrase a song from "The Music Man," Everything's up to date in Superior.
