Nuckolls Co. Board contracts for 84 bridge inspection

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met for their regularly scheduled meeting, Monday, at the county courthouse in Nelson. All three commissioners were present.

The board approved a bridge inspection contract with Mainelli, Wagner and Associates to inspect 84 bridges in the county. Jim Bolte, foreman of the county highway department, reported the new front end loader and skidsteer had been delivered. The board approved an interlocal agreement with Clay County for adjoining county road maintenance.

A number of designated liquor licenses were approved for Superior Estates Winery.

Representatives from the Krull Agency and the county insurance committee reviewed the employee health insurance plans and costs for the upcoming budget year. The Krull representatives advised the board their agency had merged and was now known a the Jones Agency, based in David City.

A representative, Dennis Maggert, from the Nebraska Association of County Officials presented a proposal for health insurance coverage for county employees.

Casey Muzic, a representative from the Midland Area Agency on Aging, submitted their annual funding request. The Nuckolls County Senior Services office provides numerous services, including meals, transportation and wellness checks, for area seniors. The board approved the request for $9,028. The sheriff and county treasurer presented the distress warrant report. These are warrants issued for nonpayment of personal property taxes. The sheriff serves the warrant and demands the payment due. There were two warrants issued and both were paid. These do not apply to real estate taxes.

The board approved a resolution expressing support for the second amendment of the constitution of the United States as well as Article one, section one of the Nebraska constitution.

The next meeting of the board will be Monday, April 19, at 8:30 a.m. at the county courthouse.
