The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met for their regularly scheduled meeting, Monday, at the county court house in Nelson. James Keifer was an excused absence.

The board approved the submitted claims.

The road department reported the maintainers were all at work on the county roads. Work to remedy deficiencies in the repair work on the Edgar spur is expected to commence in the next two weeks.

John Hodge, county attorney, notified the board that the jurisdiction is part of the diversion program for minor traffic offense. The program allows for certain traffic offenses to be expunged if a remedial course is taken. The result will be no infraction or points showing on the driver’s record.

The board approved a one-year memo of understanding to link with a Jefferson County contract for the services of Everbridge, an emergency notification system to alert county residents by landline and mobile phone as well as e mail of impending emergencies.

A representative from representative Adrian Smith’s office brought the board up to date on efforts being made in the House of Representatives by Smith.

Michele Bever presented the South Heartland Health District annual report to the board.

The board will meet weekly through July 19 to compile the necessary information to prepare the 2021-2022 fiscal year budget. The board will meet Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the county courthouse.
