Nelson couples' summer golf league Friday night news

 


The Elk Creek Couples Summer Golf League met in Nelson Friday evening for another round of competition. It again turned out to be a pleasant and beautiful evening after receiving some much needed rain the prior week.  

The format this week, in addition to the usual two-person scramble, had the guys doing all of the putting. Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe had a low net score of 30  and also a  high gross score of 51. Hunter Holland and Emily Wulf took an 8 on the par 4 No. 5 for the most over. Royce Schott had the fewest putts, only 11, and Joe Harwell had the most with 21.

Ken Rempe chipped onto No. 1 just 23.5” from the hole; Jerry Bargen’s drive on No. 3 was the closest to the bridge, also, Jerry’s second shot on No. 5 was the closest to the green, but not on.

     Standing’s this week and tying for first place with 6 points are: Rod and Sue Burge and Jerry Bargen and Sally Uhrmacher.

       Tied for third place with 4 points are the teams of Hunter Holland and Emily Wulf,  Josh and Christina Harwell and John and Piper Hodge. 

     With 3.5 points, Cody and Crystal Wyatt are currently in sixth place.    Joe and Jenny Harwell are in seventh place with 3 points, followed by Richard and Verlene Watson  with 2.5 points.

     With one point, there is a three-way tie for ninth place, the teams of Ken and Jan Rempe, Craig German and Cindy Hewitt and  Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe, followed with Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle.  

Later everyone met at the club house for grilled burgers and extra sides.  

      Friday evening, in addition to the regular scramble, the women will be teeing off.
