South Heartland District Health Department has confirmed the B.1.617.2 (Delta) variant of COVID-19 virus within the health district, which encompasses Adams, Clay, Nuckolls and Webster counties in south central Nebraska. The variant results were confirmed in a previously reported case who was not vaccinated against COVID-19.
The highly transmissible Delta variant has been associated with outbreaks in Nebraska and is now making up the majority of cases nationwide.
