Summertime social

Arlan and Elva Folsom provided the music and entertainment for the Jewell Summertime Social held last Thursday in Jewell. The event was organized by the Jewell Library Board and included food, fun, conversation as well as music.

The Jewell Library Board sponsored a summertime social Thursday. Conversation, food, music, games - several different activities went together to comprise the event.

Organizing the salads for the Jewell Volunteer Fire Department's hamburger and hot dog feed are from left: Deb Bohnert, Jami Underwood and Peg Bohnert. The meal was part of the Summertime Social sponsored by the Jewell Library Board.

Firemen were grilling hamburgers and hot dogs outside the Jewell Community Center as they were serving a free-will donation meal with salads and all the "fixins." For dessert the Jewell Youth Group served up homemade ice cream. Some claimed the lemon was the best but others said "nothing beats homemade vanilla ice cream."

Library board member, Jane Pahls, had games for the youth in Maag Park. Not surprisingly, the prizes were books. Board president, Heather Matter, was distributing popcorn, curtesy of Kettle Corn as they were unable to attend the event. Vendors were Scott and Megan Young and Joe and Brandi Magistro.

Arlan and Elva Folsom sang and entertained in Maag Park. They sang a variety of music, including the requested "Tight Fitting Jeans." There was even a bit of dancing!

Members of the Jewell Library Board are: Heather Matter, president; Rita Rogers, vice-president; Jami Underwood, secretary; Pat Zentz, treasurer; Jane Pahls, Erika Bouton and Charlene Nonhoff, members. Marsha Erikson is the librarian and Katy Jacobs the assistant librarian.
