The renewed pandemic of COVID-19 has many, many people upset, and I understand it. More tests, more vaccines, more masks ? ? ?

Well folks, we have an answer if you are among those worried and upset. And . . . this came direct from that great state of Wisconsin, so it has to be true. I tried it the other day as I wasn’t feeling the best, and I got results.

It went something like this:

Take a can of beer, any beer, pour some into a glass.

Smell it.

Taste it.

If you can smell and taste it, you don’t have COVID.

However, I wasn’t sure as I still had some unusual feelings . . . so, I decided to take the test again. Another beer . . . smelled it . . . tasted it. . .

Still couldn’t be sure so I ran the test again, and again . . . 16 times I did the test.

The next morning, I was more unsure than ever if I had COVID, as I had a headache, upset stomach and just didn’t feel well.

Decided right then and there I had to run the test again that night.

What were they thinking ? ? ?

This week’s thoughts come from several different sources. The above came from the great state of Wisconsin. Part comes from a local source and part comes from a ‘Pro-Life” group in Pennsylvania.

What were they thinking? I was just reminded this morning of ‘adults’ watching children at play doing things that made the adults think just that . . . “what were they thinking” and then do what they do.

Liberals . . . what were they thinking? The following paragraph come from that group in Pennsylvania that puts thoughts into words very well. I’m not going to try to reword the following, but just present it as it is . . .

“There is one thing that those in the Democratic Party, the Mob Left, the cancel culture, antifa, Black Lives Matter, the homosexual movement, and all self-proclaimed “progressives” have in common. It is this: They are decidedly unhappy people who seem incapable of laughter. Put another way, they have no joy in either themselves or in life itself. They are forever angry at someone or something. And their anger drives them to weaponize everything and widely claim they are victims of oppression. All the while, of course, they are the oppressors. Use the wrong pronoun and you’re call a homophobe. Hold the wrong opinion and you’re called a racist. Utter a traditional truth and you’re called an intolerant bigot. Uphold an obvious fact of nature or science and you’re called a misogynist. The list goes on and on without end. No dialogue. No two-way discussion. No meaningful conversation. No open debate. Just righteous indignation.”

I have to admit there have been times when I have wondered just that . . . “what were they thinking.”

The most obvious, of course, is what were they thinking when someone decided the answer to a woman’s ‘unplanned’ pregnancy was the baby should just be killed and everything would be OK. What were they thinking?

Many are the situations in life that are answered by “Liberals” that just make me think one thing: “what were they thinking.”

It is similar to those children whose actions we don’t understand and we wonder just why they did a certain action.

The paragraph I quoted came from a Catholic organization, but from what I’ve read and heard in recent years, most all Christian faiths would subscript to the viewpoint that Liberals sometimes do act like children.

It is our job to ascertain what ideas are “child-like” and what ideas are good. Liberal have often gotten their way and solutions to situations are often as bad as their abortion solution. It is time for those not in the Liberal way of thinking all the time, to stand up for the correct concept of “right-or-wrong.” It is not easy, however, and one must have a certain amount of intestinal fortitude to stand up and say what is right and wrong.

Then, when someone asks you: “what were you thinking?” you can tell them.

Living here in southcentral Nebraska most all of us are familiar with the crops and livestock raised here. And that old saying of “Feeding the world” is sometimes what we subscribe to. However, last week I was reading a publication from the University of Nebraska and found something new (well not new, something I just had not thought much about before).

While many think that the whole world looks for fresh beef or pork on their dinner tables, and bread or some version thereof to go with it, that is not how the whole world operates.

Rice . . . is considered a staple food for half of humanity, feeding more than 3.5 billion people globally.

What has that to do with Nebraska? I don’t see any rice being grown around here.

Well, a professor at the University of Nebraska is involved in finding an answer to a disease that is threatening rice production around the world.

Sounds like an important type of work and it is just another example of the good people of Nebraska doing whatever they can to offer solutions to important problems.

We wish him luck.
