It was a rough outing for the Superior Wildcat volleyball team as a strong Class C1 Fairbury Jeffs squad handed them a four-set, 13-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 26-24 loss at Superior last Tuesday.

The Wildcats played above their class at the Adams Central Invitational at Hastings Saturday. Superior swept Class B Gering in two sets, 31-29 and 25-19. The Class C1 Malcolm Clippers swept Superior in two sets, 16-25 and 18-25. Another Class C1 school, the Broken Bow Indians, also swept Superior in two sets, 16-25 and 20-25. The Wildcats left the event with an 11-5 record.

Superior opened play at the Hastings St. Cecilia Invitational Tuesday. Match results were unavailable at press time.

Statistics were unavailable for the Gering match.

Shayla Meyer topped the Wildcat kill chart against Fairbury with 24. Teegan Duncan kicked in 10 kills. Cailyn Barry put up seven kills. Madison Heusinkvelt registered five kills. Brooklyn Grabast had two kills. Ella Gardner and Atlee Kobza had a kill apiece. Gardner and Meyer sliced through three aces each. Barry scored with two aces. Heusinkvelt chipped in an ace. Gardner popped up 15 digs. Kobza and Meyer collected 12 digs each. Duncan added six digs. Barry and Grabast lobbed up five digs apiece. Sadie Cornell and Heusinkvelt made three digs apiece.

Teegan Duncan and Shayla Meyer recorded three kills apiece against Malcolm. Cailyn Barry made one kill. Duncan slashed through two serves for aces. Barry had one ace. Atlee Kobza and Shayla Meyer picked up three digs each. Barry, Ella Gardner and Sadie Rempel had a dig each.

Meyer topped the Superior kill chart against Broken Bow with 11. Duncan added three kills. Barry, Brooklyn Grabast and Madison Heusinkvelt notched two kills apiece. Barry scored the lone Wildcat ace. Heusinkvelt and Meyer each recorded a block. Gardner was good for eight digs. Meyer came through with six digs. Kobza popped up five digs. Barry took credit for four digs. Rempel contributed three digs. Duncan added two digs. Heusinkvelt posted a dig.

Superior continues play at the Hastings St. Cecilia Invitational today (Thursday). The Wildcats travel to Minden Tuesday for a match with the Whippets.
