SHS volleyball heads to post-season play

The Superior High School volleyball team continued to roll up the wins this week. They downed Sandy Creek, at Sandy Creek, in four sets, 15-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-17, last Tuesday. They downed the Thayer Central Titans, at Hebron, Thursday. It took four sets to put away the Titans, 25-21, 25-19, 17-25 and 25-12.

Superior disposed of the Centennial Broncos, 25-19 and 25-29 in their opening round match of the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament, Monday, at Superior.

Statistics were unavailable for the Sandy Creek match.

Shayla Meyer pounced for 21 kills against Thayer Central. Madison Heusinkvelt accounted for 11 kills. Teegan Duncan added seven kills. Brooklyn Grabast put up six kills. Ella Gardner landed two kills. Cailyn Barry had a kill. Meyer pushed through seven aces. Gardner lashed two aces for scores. Barry had an ace. Barry recorded a block for the match. Meyer contributed 18 digs. Kobza posted nine digs for the Wildcats. Gardner listed eight digs for the match. Duncan popped up seven digs. Barry and Sadie Rempel handled six digs apiece. Heusinkvelt lobbed up three digs. Grabast had a dig.

Meyer was credited with 16 kills against Centennial. Duncan posted six kills. Grabast lined up four kills. Heusinkvelt placed three kills for the match. Barry and Kobza were good for one kill each.

Barry and Rempel each scored with an ace. Barry and Duncan created a block each. Meyer put up 11 digs. Gardner hit up six digs. Kobza took care of five digs. Rempel added four digs. Duncan accounted for two digs.

The Wildcats play today (Thursday) at Milford in the final round of the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament. Their opponent and place in the tournament is dependent on the out come of Tuesday's match.

Superior begins sub-district C2-6 play Monday at a location to be determined. Other teams in the sub-district event are Thayer Central, Fillmore Central, Sutton and Sandy Creek. Sub-district play concludes Tuesday. Superior is currently in fifth place in the wildcard point standings for district and state.
