Achievement pins and awards recognize 4-H members as they reach milestones throughout their 4-H journey. The milestones and recognition motivate youth to set new and more challenging goals each year. Youth learn the value of purposeful planning to accomplish project mastery, leadership development and community service.

The Jewell County 4-H Achievement Celebration took place on Sunday, Nov. 7, in Jewell, at the community building. Jewell County 4-H families and guests gathered to celebrate the annual achievements of 4-H members and clubs.

Jewell County 4-H Royalty is based on personality, attitude, poise and appearance during an interview plus 4-H record keeping neatness and accuracy to document leadership, club involvement and community service. The 2021 Jewell County queen is Abbey Schleifer.

4-H Club Purple Seals were earned by the Mankato Eager Beavers 4-H Club and the Webber Wide Awake 4-H Club.

Member Achievement pins were earned by 22 youth as they continue to engage in vibrant 4-H experiences. Cloverbud pin: Devyn Frost. Membership pins: Ainsley Gunn, Brenley McCary and Isaac Nelson. Bronze pin: Jillyan Cady, Harlee Harris and Ryleigh McCary. Clover pin: Waysen Colson and Haylee Fuller. Emerald pin: Jacob Cockroft, William Cockroft and Blaine Frost. Silver pin: Jayce Cady, Elaine Cockroft and Haylee Cockroft. Silver Guards: Nelson Underwood. Leadership Pin: Whitley Frost and Lenden Worm. Gold pin: Abbey Schleifer. 11 years pin: Jacob Underwood. Graduating pin: Elaine Cockroft.

Youth develop record keeping skills through the competitive Kansas 4-H project record recognition contest. County Champions: Waysen Colson – swine; Haylee Cockroft – fiber arts; William Cockroft – citizenship; Haylee Fuller – clothing and textiles and goats; Harlee Harris – horse, rabbits, self- determined and woodworking; Abbey Schleifer – achievement, foods and nutrition, leadership, photography, plant science and visual arts; Nelson Underwood – sheep; Lenden Worm – beef and energy management.

The Jewell County 2021 Achiever Award went to Abbey Schleifer.

After the awards ceremony, the Jewell County 4-H Clubs hosted a potluck supper and enjoyed the lifelong friendships formed through involvement in 4-H.
