Jewell City Council hire Chief Disposal

The Jewell City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on Monday Dec. 6, at City Hall. Those in attendance were Mayor Darrell Bohnert, Council members Max Burks, Gaye Daniels, Derek Birdsell and Bob Freeman and City Clerk Kristie Anderson.

Representatives from Slates Wasteco and Chief Disposal were present to provide a bid for the city’s trash services. Chief Disposal was hired for the city’s trash services for the years of 2022-2026.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, presented his monthly report. Reed continues to work with property owners to abate nuisances.

Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson said the Waste Tire Grant is coming up again. Anderson also gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of December.

In unfinished business, Mayor Bohnert provided an update on the land bank. Bohnert presented the individuals for the Land Bank Board of Trustees, Carol Divel 1 year, Don Delzeit 1 year, Becky Loomis 2 years, Deb Bohnert 2 years and Shelby Bohnert 3 years. The individuals and terms for the Land Bank Board of Trustees and Freeman were approved.

In other business, the renewal cereal malt beverage license for Randall Farmers Co-op Union was approved.

Bohnert said the hot water tank for the motel is not cycling the water to the north room fast enough.

The council approved one pay increase and listed bonuses.

Bonuses: David-$850, Kristie-$850, Roy-$350, Jacque-$350, Katy-$200

Salary adjustments: David $23.30-hour, Kristie $18.64, Roy $12.80, Jacque $13.40 and Katy $15.00.
