Dawn Miller, a former Nuckolls County Road Department employee and Nelson resident, will retire as Adams County highway superintendent on Sept. 30. She has held that post for about 20 years.

During her time in that position, she has dealt with nine Federal Emergency Management Agency events.

Those events reimbursed Adams County with more than $15 million.
