Superior to host district track meet

Superior High School will play host to the District C-7 boys and girls track and field events Thursday, May 12. The meet will bring student athletes from nine high schools and spectators to Superior for the day long meet.

The Wildcats have not hosted a district meet at the Wildcat Community Track for many years. The track underwent a major rehabilitation just before the COVID-19 pandemic set in. The track is in perfect condition for the meet. Whether the weather cooperates is another matter.

Student athletes from Doniphan-Trumbull, Fillmore Central, Hastings St. Cecilia, Sandy Creek, Southern, Sutton, Thayer Central, Tri County, Wilber-Clatonia as well as Superior will be looking to secure a place at the state track and field meet being held at Omaha’s Harry A. Burke High School Friday and Saturday, May 20-21.

Superior High School has moved additional bleacher seating to the track area to accommodate the expected crowds. The concession stand will be well stocked to serve hungry visitors and athletes..

Traffic is expected to be heavy on Nuckolls County roads and Superior streets.

Superior has several team members who seek to secure a berth at the district meet.

Superior residents are encouraged to turn out and support our student athletes as they strive to attain a state championship. The road to that goal begins at the Wildcat Community Track.
