The Lawrence-Nelson Raiders football team opened their season with a dominant performance on both sides of the ball, downing intra-county rival, Superior, 52-14, before a large crowd at Lawrence, Friday.

Krayton Kucera put on an offensive show, scoring four rushing touchdowns and completing a pass to Tyson Kotinek for a touchdown. Toby Kotinek scored a rushing touchdown as did Connor Janda.

The Superior defense had no answers for the Raider onslaught. The Raiders defense dug in and allowed the Wildcats only 154 yards in total offense

Kucera picked up 177 yards on the ground for his 26 carries. He scored four touchdowns and two two-point conversions. Bayln Bargen collected 43 yards with his six carries. Toby Kotinek rushed for 37 yards with seven carries and two two-point conversions. Devyn Zikmund contributed six yards for his two carries. Connor Janda gained 49 yards on two carries and scored a touchdown.

Kucera completed 11 of his 16 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown.

Tyson Kotinek snagged six passes for 75 yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion reception. Toby Kotinek hauled in four passes for 54 yards. Bargen had one reception for a negative one yard.

The Raiders defense turned in an impressive showing. Janda landed five solo tackles and seven assisted tackles. Keaton Mazour knocked down five solo tackles and had five assisted tackles.

Kucera and Toby Kotinek secured three solo and four assisted tackles apiece. Wyatt Hajny hit up three solo tackles and had an assisted tackle. Toby Kotinek wrapped up two solo tackles and six assisted tackles. Erik Wheeland turned in two solo tackles along with an assisted tackle. Nolan Ostdiek took care of a solo tackle as well as assisting with four others. Cole Thompson and Clay Williams recorded a solo and two assisted tackles each. AJ Koehler and Nathan Stokes grabbed a solo tackle each. Carter Griffis was in on two assisted tackles. Nathan Elledge and Cody Funk registered an assisted tackle each for the game.

The Raiders travel to Falls City for a contest with Falls City Sacred Heart. Falls City fell to D-1 Elmwood-Murdock 95-44 in their season opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
