Bartling bowls two 300 games in week at Superior Bowl

Not many bowlers have had a 300 game. However Superior Bowl history was made last week when Randy Bartling, Hebron, bowled not one but two 300 games within three days at Superior Bowl.

Bartling was bowling in a 9-pin no tap tournament at Superior Bowl Sunday afternoon when he bowled his first perfect game. In a 9-pin no tap tournament, a 9-pin hit is counted as a strike and splits are counted as spares. He was bowling doubles with his partner, Rick Kassebaum, when during their third game, Bartling bowled his 300. It was a true 300. All his hits were strikes instead of 9-pin hits. Even with his 300 game, his partner had a better series than he did.

In his third game of his singles series during the tournament, Bartling had a 290. In the 11th frame, he had a split instead of a strike. For the tournament his scores in doubles were 189, 200 and 300. His singles series was 255, 234 and 290.

Bartling was back to Superior Bowl for men's league on Tuesday evening. He bowls with Team Hubble. Members of the team are Rick Kassebaum, Evan Meyers, Glen Hintz and Jim Shaw. The first game of the night, Randy bowled a 300 game. When he got up to the approach to throw his ball in the 12th frame, the bowling alley was dead quiet with all eyes on him. He didn't clutch and threw his 12th strike! The place erupted in cheers, whistles and congratulations from those watching the event. His next two games were not quite as exciting. They were 155 and 203. Both 300s were bowled on lanes 3 and 4 at Superior Bowl.

Randy Bartling, Hebron, bowled two 300 games at Superior Bowl in recent days. One was a true 300 while bowling in a 9-pin no tap tournament. The second 300 was bowled during Tuesday night men's league.

Bartling texted his wife to tell her he had bowled another 300. At first she thought he was telling her again about his 300 game on Sunday.

Bartling started bowling regularly 10 years ago in Hebron at Blue Valley Bowl. He has bowled in Superior for the past three years. Growing up he bowled some but during his career on the railroad, he didn't have time for the sport. His longtime friend and high school classmate, Dale Klaumann, owned and managed the Hebron lanes where he started bowling. Today Dale helps with the maintenance of the lanes at Superior Bowl. He was thrilled to witness both of Randy's 300 games.

Bartling, a right-handed bowler, throws a hook and carries a 166 average. He uses a Kinetic Track 15-pound resin reactive ball. Besides bowling, Bartling enjoys trap shooting and golf. He is the coach for the Fairbury trap shooting club. He participates the Nebraska men's state bowling tournament.

The 300 games bowled by Bartling are believed to be the first bowled at Superior Bowl.
